Sri Harikumar Subramaniam, widely known as Nandhi Hari, is an accomplished Mridangam artist and cultural mentor with over 37 years of distinguished experience in Indian classical music and public service. Born on 14 November 1968 and holding a Bachelor of Arts degree, he has dedicated his life to the preservation, promotion, and propagation of Carnatic percussion traditions.

Trained under the esteemed guru Sri Suseendhram Krishnan and guided by his father, Late Sri P. T. Subramaniam (Retired Mridangist, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting), Harikumar embodies a lineage rooted in discipline, devotion, and artistic excellence.

Musical Credentials & Recognitions

  1. Tamil Nadu State First Prize in Mridangam, awarded by the Ministry of Art & Culture
  2. Conferred Direct B-High Grade in Mridangam by All India Radio (1989)
  3. Over three decades of active performance across prestigious sabhas, temples, and cultural institutions

In addition to teaching, he has organized and curated over 100 classical music concerts, fostering platforms for emerging artists and promoting Indian cultural heritage through his initiative, Nandhi Fine Arts.

Philanthropic & Spiritual Initiatives

Beyond music, Sri Harikumar is deeply committed to spiritual and humanitarian service. He has established and managed three traditional Ghoshalas in Tamil Nadu, located in:

  1. Thiruvattar (Kanyakumari District)

  2. Nathan Kovil (Kumbakonam)

  3. Kalavai (Kancheepuram District)

Each Ghoshala sheltered over 200 indigenous cows and served as centers for daily spiritual observances and ecological care. Notably, he dedicates 25% of his personal income to cow welfare, healthcare, and sustenance, reflecting his enduring commitment to compassionate service.
